Welltron’s WSC battery charger is compact and light-weighted. It is a 4-stage charger designed for all types of lead-acid batteries. The term 4-stage refers to the three charging stages along with the additional stage, equalization.
The three stages include bulk, absorption, and float. In the bulk stage, the charger remains a constant current while the voltage increases. Around eighty percent of the battery capacity is recharged in this stage. In the absorption stage, the battery voltage maintains at a level instead of increasing, and the battery current drops. The last twenty percent of battery capacity is recovered. In the absorption stage, both the battery current and voltage are maintained at a level. The voltage is maintained so that the charger does not over-charge the battery. The 4-stage charger has the equalization mode, which aims to prevent the electrolyte from stratifying. The voltage and current are brought up a bit to equalize the electrolyte and remove the sulfation.
